Hydrogenics Corporation (USA) (NASDAQ:HYGS) shares gained 4.13% to $4.03 after the Mississauga, Ontario, maker of hydrogen generation and fuel-cell products said it received orders for electrolyzers from customers in Russia and the Middle East. It didn’t disclose the value of the orders.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) fell 1.71% to $39.66 after it said its second-quarter profit jumped 76% to $4.8 billion, or $1.09 a share. The results include a 36 cent-a-share benefit from a $1.5 billion reduction in its loan loss reserves, partly offset by a 14 cent charge to cover the U.K.’s tax on employee bonuses. Analysts polled by FactSet had been expecting 74 cents a share.
NBTY, Inc. (NYSE:NTY) jumped 44% to $53.90. the Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based producer of nutritional supplements, will be acquired by private-equity firm Carlyle Group for $55 a share in cash, a premium of 57% over the average closing price in the 30 trading days ended July 14.
NYMAGIC, INC. (NYSE:NYM) gained 21.44% to $25.32 after the New York insurance-holding company, will be acquired by ProSight Specialty Insurance Holdings Inc. for $25.75 a share, or $230 million. The deal price is a premium of nearly 24% to Nymagic’s closing price Wednesday.
