Tech Stock Movers of This Week (MSFT, HPQ, DELL, YHOO)

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) dropped 0.45% to $24.38 on over 62.67 shares. The company named company veteran Kurt DelBene as head of its lucrative Office business on Friday, taking over from Stephen Elop, who left the world’s largest software company to become chief executive officer of Nokia Corp last month.

Today, the stock opened at $24.77 and was trading within the range of $24.30-$24.82.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) fell 3.09% to $40.77 on over 62.99 million shares. Late Thursday, the comapny named Leo Apotheker, former CEO of software giant SAP, as its new chief executive. The company also named Ray Lane, a former president at Oracle Corp., as the non-executive chairman of the board.

The 52-week range for the stock is $37.32-$54.75. Volumes were at 62.99 million shares- more than 2X its average daily volume of the stock.

Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) gained 0.52% to $13.04 on over 25.91 million shares. Earlier this week, Dell’s president for Greater China, told Dow Jones Newswires that the company will launch a 7-inch tablet computer within a few weeks. The new tablet will run on Google Inc.’s Android operating system.

Over the past 52-week, the stock traded within the range of $11.34-$17.52. In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 7%.

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) went up 0.71% to $14.27 on over 16.10 million shares. Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that two senior executives at Yahoo, Hilary Schneider and David Ko are leaving the company. Schneider runs Yahoo’s ad sales and business partnerships in the U.S., and Ko oversees the company’s media strategies.

Over the past 52-week, the stock traded within the range of $12.94-$19.12. In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 6%.
